Dr. Shawnrell Blackwell, also known as Dr. B, is a dedicated Realtor and Qualified Trainer for Virginia Housing's Homebuyer Education Program serving Richmond, VA, and the surrounding areas. Her journey into real estate began when she purchased her first home at the age of 23 as a single parent.  This experience deeply shaped her passion for helping others achieve their homeownership dreams, regardless of background or circumstance.

Armed with a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech University and a wealth of experience as a public servant, Shawnrell brings an unmatched level of dedication to everything she does. Her work in the community has given her a unique perspective on the intersection of advocacy, health, and wellness. She also specializes in downpayment assistance programs and grants for public servants, ensuring that those who serve their communities have the resources they need to achieve their homeownership goals.

    Shawnrell's family tree is proudly displayed at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, with roots tracing back to iconic Richmond figures, including tennis legend Arthur Ashe. This rich history further fuels her deep connection to the city and its cultural legacy.


    As an active socialite in Richmond, Shawnrell is passionate about exploring all the River City has to offer and captures it on her Play & Stay RVA series on Instagram.  From vibrant arts and dining scenes to outdoor adventures, she continually immerses herself in the local culture, fostering a strong sense of community.
